Tom Flatley, 80, died Tuesday. He spent more than 50 years coaching at Garden City and Sewanhaka.
Flatley also coached Team USA to a gold medal at the Lacrosse World Championships in the early 1980s.
He was given U.S. Lacrosse's Lifetime Achievement Award last year. His former players say "Flats" was more than just a coach.
Flatley retired in 2014. He is also a member of the New York State H.S. Hall of Fame.
