Long Island Game Farm officials announced Tuesday that Bobo the giraffe unexpectedly died Monday morning.
The 3-year-old giraffe died from heart failure, according to the Game Farm's veterinarian Dr. Benjamin Haar.
"His presence created so many lasting memories not only for the staff, but for all the visitors he touched with his gentle nature," says Long Island Game Farm director Greg Drossel.
A necropsy examination is being coordinated, and the results may take several months.
