Dozens of Long Islanders gathered at the Spangle Drive senior center in North Babylon to celebrate Kirk Johnson's 95th birthday.

His admirers know him as "Captain Kirk."

"We all love him. He comes to our senior center every Wednesday," says Connie Alta.

The Korean War veteran sings and plays tunes for seniors at the center. He also officiates their weekly bingo game. Johnson says he loves to get people moving on the dance floor.

"I think I was born to do this because I love making these people happy. The happier they are, the happier I am. I'm going to keep doing this as long as I can," added Johnson.

Johnson also received a proclamation from the Town of Babylon.
