Commuters braved the brutal cold this morning as the deep freeze continues across Long Island.
The LIRR says the issues that caused yesterday's delays and cancellations have been addressed, and residents say they are heading back to the rails hoping that they only have to contend with the cold and not a messy commute.
The LIRR says broken rails in Queens and a fire in the East River tunnel on Thursday caused extensive delays and cancellations. The LIRR says the bitter cold temperatures caused a majority of the issues.
Commuters tell News 12 that with another bitterly cold day ahead, they are hoping they won't have to deal with another commuting nightmare tonight.
For the most part, LIRR trains have been running on time.
