A windstorm that swept through Long Island Saturday night left a cleanup on the island Sunday.
The force of the wind ripped huge branches off trees, including one on Barter Lane in Hicksville. In Bayville, the storm toppled a pole, leaving live wires dangling across Bayville Avenue.
"I mean, we do have power," said Chris Kinsel, of Bayville. "It's just the fact that we have power lines that are 5 feet from the ground. You know, if someone walked under it they could get clothes-lined."
A LIPA spokesman says the storm knocked out power to approximately 26,400 customers. Of those, all but 1,000 were still without power Sunday evening.
