Long Island Children's Museum greets guests with Kwanzaa celebration

For the second day of Kwanzaa, they learned about the principle of "self-determination."

Families came to the Long Island Children's Museum Tuesday afternoon to learn about the stories and meanings behind Kwanzaa.
Visitors were immersed in stories, songs, dances and more related to the African American holiday.
"They will be able to color their own kinara and they will be able to acquire their West African name based on the day on the week they were born," said Denise Leary.
For the second day of Kwanzaa, they learned about the principle of "self-determination."
The event started a decade ago and has become an annual tradition.
