Long Islanders are celebrating future leaders Saturday on National Girl Scout Day.
The first ever Girl Scout meeting was held on March 12, 1912, in Savannah, Georgia.
Today, there are more than 1.7 million members.
New Yorkers can celebrate by sharing scouting experiences, volunteering to lead or buying some cookies from a local troop.
