Local police departments are getting the word out about how serious and prevalent stalking is as part of National Stalking Awareness Month.
Wilton police say stalking is a serious issue that deserves attention all year round.
They're hoping the community will join them in their call to "know it, name it, and stop it."
Police posted a flyer with information on social media.
It shows common tactics stalkers use that are experienced by victims.
Stalking tactics include unwanted phone calls, being approached, being followed or watched, being sent messages, emails, gifts, cards or letters, someone sneaking into your home or car and leaving a sign of their presence, and finally, using a GPS device to track your location.
