Hundreds of children and their families filled Kennedy Park with holiday cheer Wednesday night during the first-ever “Hemp Dale Christmas Pajama Party,” a festive community event bringing together families from Hempstead and Uniondale.
The family-friendly celebration encouraged kids to come dressed in their pajamas as they enjoyed an evening packed with seasonal fun. A highlight of the night was a special visit from Santa Claus, who helped spread Christmas cheer and posed for photos with excited children.
Every child in attendance went home with an early Christmas gift — and organizers made sure each present was something the child truly wanted. Parents shared their children’s wish lists ahead of time, allowing volunteers to match each child with a specific toy.
“You think back to when you were a kid and remember wanting that one specific toy and not getting it,” said Assemblyman Noah Burroughs, of the 18th District. “We wanted to make sure these kids received the toys they asked for and went home happy.”
Families also enjoyed a full dinner and dessert, rounding out an evening focused on togetherness, generosity and holiday spirit. Organizers say the success of the event could make the “Hemp Dale Christmas Pajama Party” a new annual tradition in the community.
