A Long Island Rail Road rider says she is not happy with ongoing construction at the Mastic-Shirley LIRR Station.
Kathryn Nocerino told News 12 she’s “absolutely enraged” and claims prisoners are treated better than LIRR passengers.
Nocerino said there was “no shelter against the elements” during construction, which is ongoing, and said though there is a sheltered area now, there’s no heat and no seats.
A spokesperson for the LIRR told News 12 that construction on the new waiting rooms should be completed by the first quarter of the new year.
News 12 was also told that the construction includes a heated plaza shelter, which officials hope will be open by the end of the month.
