This Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, the Long Island Rail Road will maintain its regular weekend schedule.

However, during New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, the railroad will operate on a modified weekend/holiday schedule.

On New Year's Eve, the LIRR plans to add 12 extra westbound trains—eight heading to Penn Station and four to Grand Central Madison. Meanwhile, for New Year's Day, the service will feature 15 additional early morning eastbound trains—nine departing from Penn Station and six from Grand Central Madison.
