The nor’easter led Lindenhurst residents to contend with flooded streets Monday.

“This is basically a canal when it rains here," said Joe O’Brien, a resident of Beach Street.

Residents near the water said they’re used to playing a musical chairs of sorts with their cars - regularly keeping an eye on the weather and moving their cars to safer ground when flooding is anticipated.

Beach Street residents had one ask of passersby: Slow down.

Several residents told News 12 that when cars fly through the flooded street, the water then swamps their properties.
