Volunteers in Suffolk County say the demand for food keeps growing.
Many bundled up and braved the cold on Monday to help feed their neighbors as Lighthouse Mission hosted one of its nine weekly food distribution events in Lake Ronkonkoma.
People lined up for fresh produce, boxes of pasta and more.
“We see people on line crying. They’re just so grateful. ‘Thank you for being out here for us. If it wasn't for you, we don't know how we would be able to survive,’” says Pastor Howie Mann, outreach director for Lighthouse Mission.
Lighthouse Mission also handed out coats, gloves and other winter essentials during the event.
