The westbound Long Island Expressway has reopened between exits 33 and 32 following a tractor-trailer accident.
Police say the tractor-trailer was headed westbound and crashed into the divider. It then flipped over to the eastbound side, spilling what appeared to be gravel all over the roadway.
Crews were on scene for hours trying to clear the mess that closed both the eastbound and westbound sides.
The expressway was fully reopened during the evening rush.
