LGBT advocates say reports of NYU Langone cancelling gender-affirming care for transgender kids will be harmful to them.

According to the New York Times, NYU Langone cancelled two appointments for transgender children, following an executive order from President Donald Trump.

Several advocacy groups, including Long Island's LGBT Network headquartered in Hauppauge, say this reported move can be harmful.

"This is going to do a tremendous amount of damage and harm to our trans youth who were expecting this treatment, and their parents were expecting this treatment, only to see it pulled at the last minute. Now that's not healthcare, that's discrimination," says LGBT Network's David Kilmnick.

News 12 reached out to NYU Langone on the matter. A spokesperson for the hospital said they have no comment.
