There are new details about legal action being taken against a sleep center in Manhasset. It stems from allegations against a former employee accused of recording hundreds of people in the bathroom.
"I don't mean to get emotional but now, I have to be thinking the unthinkable now," says Alexandra Espinal.
Espinal says her 3-year-old son was secretly recorded in a bathroom.
"It's just very saddening, who knows what that person did with that footage?," says Espinal.
It allegedly happened at the Northwell Health Sleep Disorders Center and STARS Rehabilitation in Manhasset.
Sanjai Syamaprasad, 47, allegedly put a hidden camera made to look like a smoke detector inside staff and multiple patient bathrooms, according to the Nassau County district attorney.
Syamaprasad was indicted in April and faces multiple charges, including unlawful surveillance and tampering with evidence.
At least five victims have been identified so far.
Nathan Werksman represents Espinal.
They plan to take legal action.
"We want to make sure Northwell ensures that this never happens again. We want to make sure that all victims get compensation and third, we want to make sure that if there were recordings, that they are permanently deleted," Werksman tells News 12.
Northwell Health sent the following statement to News 12:
“We were deeply disturbed when we first learned information regarding the conduct of the former employee, who has not worked for us for over one year. We immediately revoked that individual’s access to our premises, reported him to the Nassau County District Attorney’s Office, and have fully cooperated with the DA’s Office in their investigation and prosecution of him. Safeguarding the privacy of our patients and employees will always remain a high priority for us.“
