Leader of Bed‑Stuy ‘Bully Gang’ sentenced to 60 years in prison

A federal judge sentenced the leader of a violent Bed‑Stuy–based gang to 60 years in prison on Thursday.
Moeleek Harrell, also known as “Moe Money,” was one of 53 defendants convicted of crimes perpetrated by the Bully Gang in 2024.
Court documents state that the group was involved in a multi‑state drug and money laundering scheme, including an attempt to smuggle drugs into Rikers Island.
Officials say Harrell founded the gang and directed and oversaw many of its offenses.
The charges against him included racketeering, two murder conspiracies, two assaults, two instances of using a gun during a crime of violence, two drug‑trafficking conspiracies and two money‑laundering conspiracies.
United States Attorney Nocella I. Shihata said his sentencing should send a message to those involved in criminal gangs.
“Moeleek Harrell learned today that there is a heavy price to pay for leading a gang responsible for extensive criminal conduct, and his sentence should serve as a warning to those underlings who foolishly obeyed the defendant’s orders. They too will learn that following Harrell’s footsteps will lead to a path straight to federal prison for a very long time,” she said.
