The Rev. Al Sharpton and attorney Ben Crump have announced the filing of a lawsuit against two construction companies who they say are responsible for the deadly Legionnaires' disease outbreak in Harlem.

The lawsuit claims that the two companies, Skanska and Rising Sun, failed to clean stormwater from cooling towers back in July, causing bacteria to spread.

The Legionnaires' outbreak in Harlem has led to 111 confirmed cases and six deaths as of Aug. 21.

News 12 reached out to the construction companies for a response to the filing and has not heard back.
