Las Vegas Sands announced Thursday a plan to build a world-class spa and wellness destination at the Nassau Coliseum.

The Sands says they are going to partner with spa and wellness company Canyon Ranch for the facility.

The business is planning high-end dining, state-of-the-art fitness, sports performance resources and a luxury hotel at a proposed casino resort.

"This is going to be a multifaceted world-class resort where people can come and enjoy something that's different and not everyone's going to come there for the same reason," says Ron Reese, of Las Vegas Sands

The Sands intends to build a resort even if they do not get a casino license from the state.
