It was a sweet day at school for some kindergarteners in Mineola.

Students in a dual English and Spanish class at the Hampton Street School took on the task of building gingerbread houses today, complete with frosting, gum drops and sugar.

"We want the children to learn to use their fine motor skills and use a lot of language they've learned in Spanish and English," said teacher Denise Maynard.

When the students were finished with their project, they were able to take their creations home.
