Kenya's president has proclaimed that the terrorists have been defeated in the deadly Nairobi shopping mall standoff.

The development has come after three floors of the mall collapsed today, trapping some people inside.

A total of five terrorists have been killed and 11 other possible suspects arrested.

Officials say the death toll stands at 62 civilians, but that number could rise because it's believed that more bodies are in the mall.

Kenyan officials say six of their defense team members were also killed, and eight more hurt in the fight with militants.

Meanwhile, Kenya's foreign minister revealed some of the mall attackers are from the United States.

As News 12 has reported, former Stony Brook University professor Kofi Awoonor is among the victims. He was in Kenya for a conference and at the mall with his son when the Al Shabab militants attacked.
