Democrat Ken Jenkins declared victory in the race for Westchester County executive, defeating GOP challenger Christine Sculti.

The contest was a rematch of February's special election. That race followed former Westchester County Executive George Latimer's move to Congress.

Here is a statement from Sculti's media person:

"Christine just called Ken Jenkins to congratulate him on his win and he was gracious in victory. Christine thanks all of her supporters and is grateful to everyone who honored her with their vote."
