The fate of a Manorville woman accused of killing her own daughter nearly two decades ago was put into the hands of a jury Tuesday.
Khairual Abdul is charged with the murder of her 4-year-old daughter, Jennifer Shafiq, in 1990. Prosecutors say Abdul and her husband, Parmjit Singh, suffocated Shafiq and dumped her body in a wooded area in Manorville.
Shafiq's remains were discovered in 1996, and her parents were arrested 10 years later.
The trial for Singh, also charged with murder, will begin when Abdul's trial concludes.
