A judge ruled two of the three dogs that attacked a Dix Hills man last week are dangerous and ordered them put down Monday.
James Mazzone, 44, appeared very upset in court as two of his three rottweilers were deemed a danger to the community. The third dog could return home as soon as an appeal, which triggers automatically in this type of case, is completed.
All three dogs were without leashes when they attacked Joe Mortensen Jr. and Christopher Green as the two walked their own pets on June 10, the victims said. Mortensen underwent surgery on his face, head and ear, which was nearly torn off. Green suffered a hand injury.
The Town of Huntington hearing took around two hours, with Mortensen and others providing testimony of the incident.
