A pedestrian died after he was struck by a car early this morning in Patchogue.

Police say Jose Mendoza, 50, of Patchogue, was walking on Main Street just east of Bay Avenue at around 2:30 a.m. when he was hit by a 2001 Chevy driven by 23-year-old Matthew Weber, of East Patchogue.

Mendoza was pronounced dead at the scene.

It's unclear if charges will be filed in the crash. Police are asking witnesses to contact them.
