Jericho High School basketball coach Wally Bachman was honored Monday evening for recently getting his 500th career win.

Bachman started his coaching career in Valley Stream in 1979. He has been at Jericho since 1992.

He has coached nearly 700 children during his time at Jericho High School and won multiple league and county championships.

Bachman says his coaching style has changed throughout the years, but his passion has never stopped.

"I just love my job, I love coaching," Bachman says. "I've been at it for a long time, and I get after it every day. Passion, a bit of hunger and desire. I've just been so lucky and just great kids."
