Jamesport farmer Kristina Gabrielsen dies at 49

A fixture of the Jamesport community and at Gabrielsen’s Country Plant Farm has died.

Kristina Gabrielsen, 49, of Mattituck, died on Sept. 28 surrounded by her loved ones, according to a post on the farm's Facebook page.

Gabrielsen was a part-owner and worked as the head grower at Gabrielsen's, a family-owned and operated farm and flower stand in Jamesport, which was founded in 1969, according to its website.

The farm announced on its Facebook page that it will be closed Wednesday and Thursday "in remembrance and to celebrate the life of our beloved daughter, sister, mother and one of our beloved owners Kristina Gabrielsen. Your love and passion for growing beautiful flowers will leave a lasting imprint here at Gabrielsen’s, you truly were the heart of this business, and we will miss you so much. We love you."

The visitation for Gabrielsen was set for Wednesday from 1:30 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. at the DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Mattituck. The funeral procession will leave the funeral home Thursday at10:30 a.m. for a graveside service at Sound Avenue Cemetery at 11 a.m.
