A Mastic Beach man accused of murdering his girlfriend in October was officially charged Friday.

Edgar Sanchez was charged with the second-degree murder in the death of Elizabeth Parisi. Police say Sanchez was a prime suspect since the beginning, but that it took months to find sufficient evidence to link him to the crime. Parisi?s body was discovered on October 15 in a wooded area of Sands Point. Sanchez was arrested while driving Parisi?s car on an unrelated traffic charge in Ohio a few days later.

Investigators say Parisi died from blunt force trauma and a fractured skull, but have not released any information regarding a murder weapon. Police also say that Parisi?s body was driven to Sands Point in her own car, but are not releasing where she was killed. Prosecutors say Parisi?s blood was found in the car and that Sanchez tried to wash it away.
