Holtsville Hal and Malverne Mel predicted Long Island will see an early spring.
An early morning celebration at the Holtsville Ecology Site on Friday brought out Groundhog Day enthusiasts of all ages.
Parents brought babies to add another first to the list. School students stopped by ahead of the first bell, and one Long Islander said the festivities checked an item off her bucket list!
“When you have Holtsville Hal, you don’t need to go to Pennsylvania!” said Mary Maki.
