A father-daughter duo’s premiere feature film “Montauk77” is hitting the big screen at the Long Island International Film Expo.
"I've always been a fan of film, my wife is a fan of film – our kids had no choice but to be fans of film – it's kind of like in our blood," said Michael Scully.
The self-proclaimed film junkie has been making short films for almost 20 years. He's always dreamed of making a feature film, but it was someone closest to him that pushed his dream into reality.
"It was my daughter who said ‘When are you going to make the big one? When are you going to make the feature film?’ I was 42 at the time and I said ‘I'm not getting any younger. Let's do this,’” he said.
Before the Scullys knew it, the father-daughter duo became unstoppable – Michael and Michaela were both a part of the creative process – even starring in it, too.
Over the course of three years, “Montauk77” came to life with the help of local businesses and funding from community members, but it holds much more meaning for Michael Scully.
"You need to dream with your eyes open. It's OK to have dreams but you have to act on them," he said.
