Police say an Islip Terrace dentist is accused of writing illegal prescriptions.
Investigators tell Newsday John Gordon wrote over 1,500 prescriptions for painkillers between 2012 and this year.
Gordon allegedly wrote them for his wife Carla and two of her friends.
Gordon is charged with conspiracy to distribute prescription painkillers.
Gordon's wife has been charged with distributing the pills.
