Islanders fan calls on UBS Arena to make facility more accessible for those with disabilities
An advocate for the disabled and an Islanders fan is calling on the UBS Arena to make their facility more accessible for people with disabilities.
Charles Razenson filed a complaint against the arena, claiming there are not enough accessible handicap parking spots and the current designated parking area for the disabled is too far from the arena.
"I just don't think it's fair to the people in wheelchairs, people who have walkers," Razenson says. "To have to go this far to have to go on a tram, to go three quarters of a mile."
A spokesperson for the UBS Arena tells News 12 that they take accessibility very seriously and will be sharing a detailed ADA plan before their grand opening on Nov. 20.
