A group of students learning remotely in Elmont got a big surprise from the Islanders.
The Islanders' mascot Sparky visited Dutch Broadway Elementary School Monday to welcome kids to class.
The team announced it is donating $50,000 to the district to bring secure Wi-Fi to hundreds of students learning remotely. The move means access to online lesson plans for kids who don't have internet connection at home.
News 12's parent company Altice is also allowing some students to access Optimum hot spots.
