The New York Islanders have an official winner for their inaugural fan-driven Third Jersey design contest.
After receiving over 80,000 submissions, fans selected the Navy Lighthouse as the concept for the 2027-28 season, the organization announced Thursday.
This marks the first time in NHL history that a franchise allowed its fanbase to help with an official on-ice sweater.
The Islanders and Fanatics will now work on refining the digital image into an NHL-ready kit to meet league standards.
As News 12 reported, the competition was narrowed down to eight finalists, before several rounds of voting helped narrow it down to an eventual winner.
“The Islanders would like to thank every fan who contributed a design, shared their feedback, and participated in the voting process to help shape the future of the franchise’s visual identity,’’ said Kelly Cheeseman, President of Business Operations.
"This contest was launched to break down traditional barriers, giving the fans a direct voice in shaping our new look," Cheeseman continued.
