Two Lindenhurst women were arrested for allegedly stealing a car in Virginia.

They were found after one of the women turned herself in on a separate charge after being featured on the Suffolk County Sheriff's "Fugitive Friday" campaign.

Investigators say Joy Portelli illegally left town with her son in August. A warrant was issued for Portelli's arrest on Long Island for child neglect.

The following month, she was arrested in Virginia on a gun charge. Her son was turned over to Jodi Ann Harrigan, who was travelling with them.

Harrigan promised to turn over custody of the boy to his family but she never did.

When Portelli turned herself in on Long Island, investigators searched the court's parking lot and found the stolen car with Harrigan inside.

Portelli's son was then released to his father.
