A stretch of Northern Boulevard near the Roslyn Viaduct was closed for hours in both directions this morning due to a 24-vehicle collision resulting from icy conditions.

Photos sent to News 12 by Roslyn Rescue show a school bus involved. Officials say a total of five school buses were involved, but no kids were on board at the time.
However, officials say there were injuries from the crash. Around 10 people needed to be transported to hospitals. All injuries were minor.
Sand trucks were dispatched to the scene, and the road reopened in under three hours.
“I spoke with a couple lieutenants, and this we've never seen, I've never seen. I think in total about 24 cars. We've never seen something of this magnitude and certainly on the viaduct,” says Ronald Collura Jr., assistant chief with Roslyn Rescue.

Roslyn Rescue said drivers should stay home during Friday's snow to avoid driving in hazardous conditions.
