A public hearing is set for Tuesday afternoon on plans to build two battery energy storage facilities in Suffolk County.

The first proposed project would be on Townline Road in East Northport, where it would occupy 6.5 acres of industrial property near a neighborhood.

The second facility is planned for Arnold Drive in Huntington, near the Greenlawn substation, which is also close to a neighborhood.

The Town of Huntington is considering a six- month moratorium to allow time for officials to address community safety concerns.

As News 12 has reported, companies and advocates for the projects say the storage systems can help create a reliable, affordable, and cleaner electric grid.

Tuesday’s hearing is scheduled for 2 p.m. at Huntington Town Hall.
