(AP) - Detectives say they are stillinvestigating a fatal garbage truck accident on the campus ofFarmingdale State College.
Police say 19-year-old Kaeli Sarah Kramer of Huntington wasattending her first day of summer classes at the Long Islandcollege on Tuesday when she was struck and killed. Another studentwas injured.
The driver, Guillermo Vargas, told investigators he beganbacking up his garbage truck at 11:39 a.m. when he heard someonescreaming. He jumped out and saw Kramer underneath.
Vargas was hospitalized with emotional distress. No charges werefiled.
After a safety inspection, the truck was returned to its owner,Jamaica Ash.
