Hundreds of Long Islanders gathered outside the Nassau County courthouse in Mineola for one of many protests against President Donald Trump and Elon Musk that were held around the nation on Saturday.
The "Hands Off" rally in Mineola was one of eight that took place across Long Island.
Protestors say they're concerned about what they're calling devastating federal cuts in education, health and human services, science and environmental programs.
"I am afraid for my children and their future," said one protester.
The White House released a statement that said in part, “President Trump's position is clear. He will always protect Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid for eligible beneficiaries."
