The charity organization Toys of Hope says more than 400 toys collected for their holiday drive were stolen from its Huntington Station warehouse.

According to Suffolk police, a call came in at 8 p.m. Saturday reporting that toys were stolen from the warehouse at 167 East 2nd St.

The organization says the person who stole the toys destroyed the shrink-wrapped packages that protect the toys from weather.

The founder of the organization says they are grateful to the community for stepping in and sending donations.

In response to the theft of toys, the Town of Huntington and Empire Toyota will be partnering with the Huntington Tri-CYA to give toys to families in need. The town is asking that those who had signed up to receive toys from Toys of Hope (and anyone else in need of toys for the holidays) to call 631 351-3253 up until 8 p.m. on December 22. Toys will be distributed on December 23.
