House fire displaces 10 residents in Hempstead

An overnight house fire in Hempstead left 10 residents displaced.

The Garden City Fire Department responded to a heavily involved fire at a home on Yale Street at 4:43 a.m., according to James Hickman, the assistant chief fire marshal for Nassau County. Seven additional fire departments and 75 firefighters also responded to the scene and brought the fire under control an hour later.

There were no reported injuries, but the Red Cross was notified about seven adults and three children now displaced.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Nassau County Fire Marshal and the Nassau County Police Department's Arson/Bomb Squad.
