The body of a female was found in the dumpster in the parking lot of an Advance Auto Parts store in South Hempstead, News 12 sources say.
Police say they were called around 7:30 a.m. to the scene on Grand Avenue around five blocks south of Sunrise Highway.
Homicide detectives spent more than 12 hours at the location on Tuesday.
Albert Shillingford , who lives right next door to the crime scene, says loud music and drugs have been a constant problem at the parking lot.
"They come down, they take drugs, and nothing has been done about it, so I'm not surprised it happened," Shillingford says.
Neighbors also say they heard an alarm going off at the auto parts store through the night.
"It's kind of scary, I've been here for 47 years so it's scary," says Gloria Oriol. "I raised my children there; my daughter raised her children there. Now my grandson's raising his and it's sad."
There is no word on the identity of the victim. It's also unclear whether the victim was killed in the spot or if her body was dumped there.
