For shoppers like Catia Cosme, going to this Home Depot was almost off of her to-do list because of worries about getting harassed by laborers in the parking lot.

“I understand that everybody’s looking for a job… but harassing customers as they’re approaching their car is not the way to do it,” said Cosme, who says she was able to avoid that hassle today.

Removing those interactions was the goal of City Councilwoman Kristy Marmorato, who met with Home Depot management, Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson and NYPD representatives on Thursday.

One security guard at the Home Depot on East Gun Hill Road says that she usually works in Manhattan but was moved to the Bronx to monitor the situation.

“We were told to stand outside and guard,” said the security guard. “Make sure that they do not come into the store and do not grab people.”

News 12 received a tip that similar issues have arrived at the BJ’s at Bronx Terminal Mall. Taxi employees tell News 12 that there were over a dozen day laborers at the store last week but now they are gone.
