One-year-old Joseph Adonis was found unresponsive on Jan. 3. due to a suspected fatal drug overdose.
According to Suffolk District Attorney Ray Tierney, “preliminary toxicology results for the child's blood show the presence of cocaine, fentanyl, morphine, a precursor chemical to fentanyl and a metabolite of cocaine.”
The baby's parents, Wilkens Adonis and Daryllee Leibrock, were arrested for allegedly having drugs and loaded guns in their home.
According to prosecutors, the drugs were fully accessible to the baby and an 11-year-old who lives in the home.
Prosecutors said in court that the drugs were found inside of the bedroom of the residence on Dolphin Lane in Holbrook.
Under the current charges the judge is legally not allowed to hold the parents on bail. However, Leibrok was held on bail for violating an existing order of protection, and Adonis was held on separate criminal contempt charges. The investigation into their baby's death is ongoing.
They both pleaded not guilty.
