Hofstra students helped their community over the weekend by raking lawns for the university’s annual Shake-A-Rake program.
The program began in 2009 and has grown into the school’s largest community outreach event.
Around 500 students raked the lawns of senior citizens and disabled residents during the program.
Hofstra alumni Mary Waldron was one of many people helped by the event. She says she appreciates the program.
“As I get older, it becomes more important for me to have some help. This certainly fulfills,” she said.
