A one-of-a-kind hockey clinic was held Sunday in Dix Hills.
Visually impaired players were invited to the ice, where their needs were accommodated with a specially designed puck packed with ball bearings to make extra noise.
"I was hoping that one day I would be able to play,” said player Jeremy Schanken, of Huntington. “I never knew when it would come. I guess this is the start of it."
Organizers hope to start a New York League for the visually impaired if they get enough interest.
