Gov. Kathy Hochul weighed in Thursday on the potential of Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman running for governor.

"It doesn't matter how many Trump cheerleaders decide to run against me," said Hochul. "I'm told the Republican Party wants to make sure they have identified the most mega-Republican who will serve Donald Trump if they become governor. So I look forward to having a very robust debate about who I'm fighting for - it's not Donald Trump, it's the people of New York.

Blakeman has not officially announced a run for governor but is considering it.

Republican Rep. Elise Stefanik has already announced she will run for governor.
