Bay Shore residents are calling for change after watching a mail carrier throwing packages on their property for months.

Neighbors say they reported the mail carrier to the Post Office, but continue seeing packages being thrown on the ground, some getting damaged in the process. The neighbors asked that News 12 not use their real names to protect their identity.

“The postmaster spoke to him, he apologized, but the same day they said he apologized, he threw my packages again,” says Jim, of Bay Shore.

The worker was caught on security video throwing the packages, and residents are still waiting for something to be done.

In one video, the carrier can be heard saying, “These people want special treatment. They don’t do *expletive* for me.”

“He’s disrespecting the uniform – he’s disrespecting the United States Postal Service,” says Dan, of Bay Shore. “Do your job and do it professionally. That’s as simple that.”

In a statement to News 12, a USPS spokesperson said in part, “We’re currently reviewing the incident/video in question to gather additional details about this incident. We’ll reinforce our handling procedures and procedures and expectations with carries to ensure the sanctity of the mail and the values of our organization are upheld.”

The USPS spokesperson asks for anyone with video to send it to them to review. That can be done here.
