The Town of Hempstead Zoning Board is mulling a proposal to construct a three-story apartment building on Bellmore Road in North Bellmore.
The complex requires a variance because of the proposed height of the building. Town code currently allows for 2 1/2 stories.
An attorney for the developer says the complex would be for renters aged 55 and older. The proposal calls for a total of 28 units.
There was a large turnout at Wednesday's zoning board meeting. The zoning board adjourned the matter until April 3.
