Rain wasn't going to stop the members of El Elyon Church Ministries from helping their community this Thanksgiving.

Over a dozen volunteers gathered in Hempstead this morning, packing up food they had cooked themselves and delivering it to 23 different shelters in need.

The effort, led by Guerdine Saint Charles and her husband, associate pastor Chavelt Saint Charles, is now in its 12th year, and they say the demand for food donations has gone up significantly since they first started.
